<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">On Sunday April 10th I will be running in the Paris Marathon, it is likely to be my one and only attempt at this distance !!!

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Having spent the last few months telling people I am not doing this for charity, I am now changing my mind in typical last minute fashion....

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">The reason for this is that sadly an old friend of mine, Kathryn Curran, died last month having lost her long battle with cancer. I’ve known Kathryn since I was 11 years old when we sat next to each other making scones in our school Home Economics class. Attending her funeral all these years later was a naturally a very sad and emotional experience.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">At the same time it was also quite inspiring to see all of Kathryn’s friends and family, from different stages of her life, all get together and talk about all the great memories they have of her. What was clear to me is that not only was Kathryn an amazing person, but she was also an inspiration to many people. She leaves behind her Phil (her husband) and three young children Evie, George and Tom.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">So I have now decided that if my plodding around the streets of Paris can help even raise a small amount of cash to support one of her favourite charities then that can be no bad thing. So I will be running the Paris marathon in memory of Kathryn, and in support of the charity Building Hope.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">This is all a bit last minute but I would appreciate it if you could donate.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Building Hope is charity that was very close to Kathryn’s heart. There is a link are below but essentially what they do is support the poorest and the most disadvantaged families in Ethiopia, specifically those affected and disabled by leprosy, by providing better housing and sanitation, education and ways to earn a living
