The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

The day will start at around 4:45am.  Quick breakfast and onto the Brompton to cycle to work to meet the coach that will take us all into London for the start of the Palace 2 Palace charity bike ride. After hanging about in the cold autumn morning we will be off around 7:30.  A sprint through central London and along the Embankment to warm up and then out to Richmond Park to see the deer mingling with the morning mist. Out to Kingston and passed Hampton Court (A former palace surely?), passed the the water treatment works and Epsom racecourse.  My recall of the geography around this part of the route is not good so maybe its not Epsom racecourse (Sandown perhaps?).

Out to Chertsey and close to the old CASE Development office (And Oracle UK HQ) - oh the parties, what parties they were....  up onto Chobham common and the smell of gorse flowers.  (Plus the noise of the M3) and then down to Virginia Water and up across the A30 for a long whiz down towards Runnymead and then for the home stretch into Windsor.

The last few miles through Windsor drag and drag as you meander through back roads to finally come out at the race course (I prefer the finish of earlier years on Eton fields).  After a 1/2hr to recouperate its back on the brompton to cycle to Twyford and then on home making around 90 miles total.  So about the same at the Palace2Palace Ultra but without the glory.

If you think this sounds like a worthy endevour to sponsor please feel free.  All in a good cause as they say.
