Story

<p><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">Hey all,</span></strong></span></p> <p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>&nbsp;</strong></span><span><strong>Thanks for coming.</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">I'm Ian, I'm a 23 year old guy and I live in Birmingham, but originate from Cornwall. I've been meaning to do this for several years, and patted it off with excuses of "next year" for </span></strong></span><span style="color: #0000ff;"><span style="color: #3366ff;"><strong>quite </strong></span><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">long enough. I want to challenge myself to do something that I've never done before and would never usually do, whilst at the same time raise money for a good cause.</span>&nbsp;</strong></span></p> <p><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">The charity I want to raise money for is Macmillan Cancer Support. Every year more than a quarter of a million people are diagnosed with some form of cancer; that's mums, dads, uncles, aunts, brothers</span></strong></span><span style="color: #3366ff;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;"> and sisters. 1/3 of people will develop some for of cancer in their lives. It effects everyone in some way. Personally, my gran has </span></strong></span><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>c</strong></span></span><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">ancer. Currently it's incurable. I've also got a friend who's wife has just got the all clear from her canc</span></strong></span><span style="color: #3366ff;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">er.</span></strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><br /></strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">Macmillan Cancer Support helps to improve the lives of people affected </span></strong></span><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">by cancer.</span></strong></span><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>&nbsp;<span style="color: #3366ff;">Th</span></strong></span><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">ey provi</span></strong></span><span style="color: #3366ff;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">de </span></strong></span><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">practical, medical and financial support and push for</span></strong></span></span><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>&nbsp;<span style="color: #3366ff;">better cancer care</span>. <span style="color: #3366ff;">So Macmillan seemed like the obvious choice of charity to support, and I hope th</span></strong></span><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">at with your support I can raise the money to make a real difference</span></strong></span><span style="color: #3366ff;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>.</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">So... What a</span></strong></span><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">m I going to do to convince you to part with your hard earned cash?</span></strong></span></p> <p><span style="color: #666699;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>My </strong></span><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>Challenge:</strong></span></span><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong></strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #666699;">I will be flown to around 13,000 feet, before jumping out of the door of the aircraft accompanied by (but not attached to) two British Army Parachute Association instructors.. I will then drop in freefall towards the ground at 200 Feet per second (120mph) for around 45 seconds (7000ft) at which point I will deploy my own parachute and fly myself into the landing zone, hopefully landing on two feet!</span></strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #666699;">However... Lots of people do a jump either attached to, or at least with instructors.</span></strong></span></p> <p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #666699;">I wanted my challenge to be a bit different, so I will be attempting to complete an accelerated freefall course in a weekend! &nbsp; That means a day of ground school, followed by a total of 8 jumps. One of these jumps will be with NO instructor. This jump will be filmed as evidence of my craziness, and I'll upload it to youtube so that all fo you (my sponsors) can see! =P</span></strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #c0c0c0;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><span style="color: #666699;">Interestingly, Although I've flown in planes a fair bit, I've always landed in the plane I've taken off in. This will be the first time (first EIGHT times in fact) that I've taken off *in* a plane, only to land *without* it, having jumping out at 13,000ft beforehand.</span></strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong></strong></span>Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.</p> <p>Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
