We DID IT!!!!

On Saturday 5th September, through driving rain we all completed the walk in just over 13 hours. No records broken but given the conditions [wet, boggy, cold] I think we did extremely well. It also made me realise that I need some new waterproof gear as I quickly became a soggy, muddy chap gaining weight by the hour as I acted like a piece of human blotting paper!

Well as Fundraising Manager for Henshaws Yorkshire I knew it would not be long before I was expected to do something totally mad, and here I am planning to walk the Dales 3 peaks, a 25 mile circular walk, 23 years after first completing it. This time its for a different purpose, not just a personal challenge, but to raise funds for those people I have the pleasure to work alongside - those with a visual impairment or other disability. Many of those we support have significant and profound 'challenges' and yet they remain so positive, upbeat and inspirational. They have helped to remind me of what's really important in life, and that is life itself!

Please go for it and sponsor me as this is not something that I intend doing again!! I can remember the first time Gordon King and I did this all those years ago - what do I remember? Pain, this is not a gentle walk, it really is a challenge and I can assure you that I have done much preparation - how I wish!
