Intensive care foundation 3 Peaks challenge 2012 · 12 June 2012

The Intensive Care Society is the largest multi-professional intensive care body in the UK. We support the entire intensive care community as they care for the sickest of patients. We exist to improve the lives of those teams by providing research, guidance, education, wellbeing and a lot more.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Those of you who know me, are aware that I really enjoy an outdoors physical challenge. Climbing the 3 peaks in under 24 hours is therefore right up my street, but more importantly it is an opportunity to raise money for a charity which is close to my heart as an intensive care doctor. The charity funds vital research into critical illness, guiding us for the future in looking after the sickest members of society.

Many of you will recall that I did something similar last summer, successfully completing the Sea to Summit challenge 2011 in North Wales with my team from the Walton Centre and raising around nearly £500. However the challenge this year is not only physically tougher but also financially, as I aim to raise double that of last year. Thus I am asking you to donate today as generously as you can, as I need your help to achieve that goal.

The photographs attached show that I continue to engage and compete in a variety of outdoor activities, particularly in the mountains. Thus I am confident that I can complete this challenge.

Best wishes

Ian

May 2012 update:

The challenge is getting closer and so training is continuing a pace. Regular 20k rowing outings on the river and trips up into the hills. In Scotland at present, and climbed An Teollach this week in spring conditions. I have attached a picture to show the lovely snow and bright blue sky.

June update. Only two days to go! Weather not looking too hopeful so extra kit and waterproofs being packed. I had a good trial walk two weekends ago - 16 miles, 6500 feet of ascent and 7 Wainrights conquered. New picture attached showing my feet relaxing on top of Steeple in the lakes.

The fund raising is going well but still need all your help to achieve my goal, so please consider donating.

Many thanks

Ian

Final update June 15th: Well the deed has been done and all the ICF group completed the task in under 24 hours. I finished with 43 minutes to spare after a very rapid up and down of Snowdon in just over 3 hours. So thank you to all who have sponsored me to a tune of nealry £1400 including off line and gift aid contributions.

Best wishes

Ian
