Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm currently on a 5 month project in the Mityana District of Uganda where I am working with fishing villages around Lake Wamala to improve the environmental health conditions they face around the lake shore. The villagers generally have no access to safe drinking water, access to only poor sanitation services and little or no understanding of how their actions can affect the health of the various villages around the lake. My goal here is to get one village up and running on these fronts such that it acts as a blueprint for other villages to copy. To do any of this though, I need funding. The bonus here is that any money raised will ultimately be used more than once as any money for the village will be loaned to them as without true ownership it is usually the case that any solutions to the various problems are not properly maintained and so fall apart. Once any money is repaid it will either go to another village or be used for the charities other aims such as fire safety.

In a bid to raise a small amount of money I am going to run the Kampala 10km race on 22nd November, which should be fun.

Thanks for any donations,

Ian.
