Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Every year I talk about losing weight, and like most people talk is as far as it goaes as come the New Year all thoughts of hitting the gym and cutting out the rubbish food go out the window. Each year the weight goes up a bit, the waistline expands a bit, but we kid ourselves that we're the same as we were 12 months ago.

So, this year I decided I needed a better incentive, and so have decided to lose weight and help a charity at the same time. The charity i'm helping is Dreams Come True, a charity I have helped previously through Ice Hockey games.

My aim is to lose at least 3 stone. The aim is to achieve this through Dieting and exercising more.

The diet starts on 1st January when I will weigh myself at the Bannatynes gym in Peterborough. The scales here will be the ones I use each week to weigh myself and report back on how i'm doing.

Now, the other motivation is of course seeing the amount raised for the charity go up and up ! You can sponsor me a single amount, or per pound of weight lost (50p per lb) and then sponsor each month.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Updates:

8th January
Starting weight is 16.5 stone.

25th January
So, we're just over 3 weeks in and things are going well.
I've cut out cakes at lunchtime (miss my big Egg Custard Tarts), bacon rolls on a Saturday morning, Fish & Chips, Chinese Takeaways and chocolate.
When I fill up with petrol now, all I do is buy petrol, not crisps, chocolate and fizzy drinks.
At the ice rinks and service stations (on the way to away games) I no longer buy pasties / sausage rolls or other 'bad foods'.
The cupboards are full of Weight Watchers meals, which are actually quite nice !!

I've also made a big decision. In April I go to Slovenia to watch Ice Hockey. We're staying at Lake Bled, and the Lake walk is 3km. I've walked it numerous times, but this year I will run it. Not once, not twice, but every day - that's 9 times which is just over 27miles - my marathon in a week.

Now that gives me the extra incentive to keep the dieting going, and to keep the exercise going aswell.

Sunday is my bext weigh in so we'll see how things are going then !

13th March
So, been a few weeks since the last update. Weight today was 15 1/4 stone. Slightly slower than planned, but still heading in the right direction.

What i've noticed more than anything is my trousers are looser, so i've lost probably around an inch off my waist.

Only a few weeks until my trip to Lake Bled (Slovenia) and the daily runs around the lake. Also signed up for a 100km cycle in June.
