Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

It's now three years since I reached my lowest point and was admitted to hospital suffering from pneumonia and a collpsed right lung. This followed 20 years suffering from an eating disorder. During those dark years I withered from a promising teenage athlete to a skeletal shadow of my former self. I weighted in less than six stones at the age of thrty five.

Although those eight days in hospital were the most painful of my life, they were also possibly the most productive too. I realised that I was lucky to be alive and luckier still to have a family that had stood by me through some very difficult times. I couldn't afford to waste anymore of my life and so I made a pact to sort myself out and give something back to society for letting me live.

That's why I ran the Paris marathon in 2009, London in 2010 and it's also the reason that I have signed up to run in the 2011 London marathon. Each marathon has been run for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity that holds no prejudice, providing help, advice, guidance and support to both the victims of cancer as well as their freinds and families. I never cease to be humbled at the work they do and count myself as incredibly lucky in being able to help promote this organisation.

During the darkest hours of my anorexia I felt useless - a total failiure. Sure, recovery was a long, hard process but believe me, it has been worth every calorie! I now have friends, ambition and a purpose in life,

Please support me in whatever way you can. £51 could be a liquidiser for someone who can't eat solid food due to their cancer. £3,333 could keep a Macmillan cancer information and support centre stocked with all the information resources needed to support people for a year. £143,273 could fund a Macmillan nurse for 3 years, providing emotional and practical help to those affected by cancer.

Over the past 2 years I have raised over £6,500 and I would dearly like to turn this into a 5 figure sum by reaching the incredible grand total of £10,000. I can't do this without you.

Be proud of donating and I will endeavour to make you proud when I run on 17th April 2010 in the 2011 London marathon.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
