James' Message - I've learned at first hand what a devastating effect this type of illness can have on peoples lives. So I want to help this charity by raising some money through this run.

21 kilometres of pain should be fun - in a crazy sort of way. Hopefully we'll do it...!!!!!!

Ian's Message - I'm running this race to raise money for the Stroke Association as I have seen first hand the fantastic work they do and how they serve to help people who have suffered from a stroke.

4 years ago at the age of 41 my mums partner Mike had a stroke. At the time he was a very healthy individual and always active. The stroke left him in hospital for 5 months and when he was released he had lost the use of the entire left hand side of his body, including significant impairment to his speech and vision.

The Stroke Association have been excellent in supporting both Mike and my mum providing financial support and advice, councilling and support, and a network of people suffering from similar conditions to talk to.

Through hard work and perseverence Mike has been able to learn how to walk again, and his speech has improved dramatically. He now works very hard to keep himself fit and continue in his recovery. He also now spends time in hospital speaking with recent stroke victims and helping with related research projects.

Please give generously as I will be putting everything I have into this race and can guarantee everyone who contributes that they will have the satisfaction of knowing on the morning of Sept 20th I will be in agony, followed by likely vomiting, followed by a massive sense of achievement (hopefully!).
