Story
Thank you for visiting the JustGiving page for the Imperial College, Faculty of Engineering @ the London Duathlon 2015! This year we have put together teams of amateur athletes from across our Faculty to take part in a gruelling duathlon at Richmond Park in order raise money for an extremely worthy cause.
Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. MSF offers assistance to people based on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. Some of the myriad activities carried out by MSF in recent years include fighting the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, providing support to civilians affected by the conflicts in Syria and Iraq, and providing emergency services following the recent devastating earthquake in Nepal.
About us
We have united staff, students and accomplices from across the Faculty of Engineering at Imperial College for this fantastic opportunity to raise money for charity, which should also be a lot of fun (and a lot of pain!).
130 participants made up of over 40 relay teams and solo athletes are taking part in the London Duathlon in Richmond Park on Sunday 20 September. The Duathlon consists of 10km run followed by a 44km cycle and a further 5km run. Individuals in relay teams will race in a single stage of the event, while the soloists will be doing the full Duathlon! See photos of the team:
It is the third year in a row that we’ve entered this race and our group has expanded immensely since last year when we entered five teams and raised over £3,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society, to the 40+ teams who are taking part this year. See photos of last year’s teams in action:
We would be very grateful for any support you can provide for this great cause, and if you can, please do also come and cheer on our athletes at what will be a wonderful day in the stunning surroundings of Richmond Park.
