Thank you for visiting the Independent Age British 10k team fundraising page.

This page is for the amazing Independent Age staff members who took to the streets of London on 8th July 2012 to complete the greatest 10k route in the world! Well done team, you made us all really proud!

Nick talks about his race day experience: Getting up at 6 in the morning on a Sunday goes against everything I stand for and believe in. The atmosphere before the start line was a great experience to be a part of. Annoyingly, the so called ‘elite athletes’ were allowed to start a full half hour before I even reached the start line- all but scuppering any plans I had of a glorious race victory. Much to my surprise, the actual run proved to be thoroughly enjoyable. The increased rainfall was actually quite refreshing and provided ideal conditions for navigating the route, dodging the many walkers and abandoned water bottles. Despite the rain, the day proved a highly enjoyable experience overall and I’m delighted that I no longer have to keep up any pretence of training
