My story

Thank you for visiting the Indian Dhamma Fundraising page.  We’re aiming to raise money from the FWBO and TBMSG Sanghas world-wide to support some of our most important Dhamma work in India: the men’s and women’s Ordination Teams, plus the Indian Mitra Convenors.

It’s going to be a big project and this page is just for starters.  In fact, right now, we’re mostly raising money for a fundraiser and for the expenses of the campaign: if we succeed in this; all money raised from the campaign itself will be able to go straight to India.

Below we give a few details of what’s going to be needed; right now we invite you to make a donation to the campaign costs; this will also ‘register’ you and allow us to keep in touch as things unfold.

Please give generously - thank you!

A short summary of what we’re aiming to fund:

The TBMSG Women's Ordination Team

The Women's Ordination Team is responsible for training Women for Ordination. There are approximately 750 women who have asked for Ordination in India, they are spread all across the sub-continent, whilst being concentrated in Maharastra.  In addition to this they provide an important source of leadership within the Order for further training of Order Members, leading festivals and retreats, Kalyana Mitrata and conflict resolution, out-reach Dhamma work.

Expenses include support for  four women Order Members (though they would like to expand this), office and accommodation expenses, also travel : because of the inability of women to travel long distances to go on retreat there is a greater need for team members to travel to various states.

The Men's Ordination Team

The Men's Ordination Team is responsible for training men for Ordination (approximately 1000 men from all over India). In addition to this they too provide an important source of leadership within the Order and Movement, further training of Order Members, leading festivals and retreats, Kalyana Mitrata and conflict resolution and a lot of out-reach Dhamma work.

These teams include leadership and guidance from Subhuti, Suvajra, Srimala, and Karunamaya.

The Indian Mitra Convenors

The Mitra system in India consists of some 7000 people, men and women.  The overall Indian Mitra convenor leads weekends for Mitras and meetings for Mitra Convenors, keeps records on Mitras, and works to oversee the system as a whole, including travel..

We’ll publish more detailed information as the appeal itself gets underway.
