Story

Little Maya Sehgal was just a year old when she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in December 2012. Maya's parents, Aman and Nisha know what it's like to suddenly have your life turned upside down and when the only thing that matters is getting your child better again. The last thing on your mind is work, bills and the routine of everyday life.

Which is why, through their tireless fundraising and the huge support of family and friends, the Sehgals have set up the 'Inspired by Maya' Fund - an emergency grant available for families of children with cancer to assist them in times of financial hardship. The fund  is administered by CLIC Sargent, the UK's leading cancer charity for children, young people and their families and managed by Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Charity, the appointed hospital charity for the Great North Children's Hospital and Newcastle's RVI.

The fund provides grants to those families most in need to help with anything from travel costs and hospital parking charges to accommodation, clothing, heating, childcare and food for parents and family members in emergency admission situations.
