Iona's charity work
Iona is an inspiring 10 year-old with a dream to help others. Since she was diagnosed with a brain tumour 5 years ago she has been determined to help others suffering from the disease.
Her newest and most ambitious venture yet is her Wacky Wig Walk. Iona is inspiring hundreds to join her for the 4km walk or run to raise thousands for Brain Tumour UK.
The event is on Saturday 27 October 2012 at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre, Solihull. Learn more about the Wackyness here http://www.braintumouruk.org.uk/ionas-wacky-wig-walk.
Just a couple of weeks ago Iona visited the London apartment of celebrity hair stylist Lee Stafford as he cut her hair to be donated to make a wig for a cancer patient. You can read more on this inspiring story here http://www.braintumouruk.org.uk/ionas-celebrity-charity-haircut.
Iona's Story
Iona was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2007 and underwent 10 hours of surgery and six weeks of intensive radiotherapy during which her hair became patchy and bald.
Her mum, Ann said "We were warned that Iona's hair might not grow back at all, but it did and very vigorously!"
"Iona felt so lucky, she wanted to share her good fortune and help someone in similar circumstances. By donating her hair it was a way for her to give back," she said.
Iona works tirelessly to help others with similar circumstances to herself. Please give her your support in any way you can!
Throughout her treatment, Iona has been supported by national charity Brain Tumour UK.
