in aid of the Activity Group, Elsing Ward, at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital
I volunteer with an Activity Group every Friday at Elsing Ward, a Medicine for the Elderly Unit at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The group uses arts and crafts to help patients to mobilise. Many of its members have cognitive impairment or suffer from low mood. Activities give patients an opportunity to socialise and try out new things.
See here for more info (scroll to the bottom of the page).
The money raised will go towards purchasing new materials for the group, which does not receive NHS funding, such as:-
wool
canvases
silk flowers (for arrangements)
paper and card
and specialised games for the visually impaired.
The group makes a difference to how people feel about their stay. It is easy to become bored, sedentary and to loose touch with sensory experiences in hospital. Creative activities really help to lift the mood!
