My story
A year and a half ago I had an aneurysm that nearly killed me. In celebration of the fact I am still here I have decided to undertake one of the greatest ever challenges… the London Marathon! Before the aneurysm I had never even run for the bus before so as you can imagine this is going to be quite a challenge! I’ve been doing some serious training and seem to have aches and pains most days – but I am determined to make it to the finish line.
I’ve decided to run for the children’s communication charity called I CAN. I have struggled with dyslexia my whole life so can directly relate to the frustrations and difficulties children with communication needs face, so please dig deep to help support children who struggle to communicate.
I CAN
Children with communication difficulties might find it hard to express themselves, understand words, speak in sentences and understand simple instructions. Daily life for these children can be distressing and frustrating. They can struggle to read, learn, join in, make friends and are often left out and left behind. I CAN are the experts in helping children with communication difficulties. If we find and help these children and their families, we can unlock their potential.
£100 could help I CAN give expert advice and support to five families
£50 could provide communication support for a child at primary school
£10 could support a family with a DVD and resource pack to give them the vital answers they need
As many as one in ten children have speech and language difficulties, this is over one million children in the UK.

I CAN is the children's communication charity. We are the only UK-wide charity that supports children's communication skills, the springboard from which children learn, achieve and make friends. I CAN works to foster the development of speech, language and communication skills in all children with a special focus on those who find this hard: children with a communication disability.
