Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

A voluntary search and rescue team made up of local cavers, climbers and walkers. Providing a highly skilled service in the Three Peaks and Malhamdale areas of the Yorkshire Dales. The team, estabished in 1935, is entirely reliant on public donations and is on call 24x7; your support is appreciated.

Story

This year I will be running the London Marathon for the 5th time. I first ran it in 1982 and again in 2002, 2004 and 2006.

Over the years I have raised over £12,000 for stroke and dementia charities by running the marathon.

This year I am seeking sponsorship for the Cave Rescue Organisation who are an entirely voluntary organisation, working in conjunction with the emergency services, to rescue walkers, climbers, cavers and animals from on or beneath the fells of North Yorkshire. Their headquarters is in the village of Clapham at the foot of Ingleborough, one of the Three Peaks of Yorkshire. Occasionally they have open mornings when you can hear about their work, view the equipment and see the control room and training facilities. The above photograph was taken on just such a morning on 2 Jan 2010. You can read more about them by visiting their website www.cro.org.uk

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now to help me raise as much money as possible to support this essential work.
