Earlier in the year, I attended an inspirational talk on Mary's Meals from the head of the charity. Mary’s Meals not only addresses the immediate needs of hungry children by giving them a daily meal, it also allows those children to receive an education that can provide an escape from poverty for themselves and their communities. Mary's Meals approach is simple and practical and, with 3 children myself, the story of how their approach can make such a huge difference to a childs quality of life is particularly powerful and emotional.

I resolved to do something challenging to raise money. I do a lot of running already for mountaineering training so I thought that a normal marathon could be insufficiently challenging! I have chosen to make it much more painful and difficult by choosing a fell running course over the highest hill in the SE involving 5200 ft of ascent and descent with less than 2 months training time.

I hope you can support me and Mary's Meals. HSBC will match the first £500 raised so please dig deep and donate now to this really worthy cause.

Thanks, James
