When Alex and I decided to sign up for 'Pedal for Scotland', we were really just going along for the ride! I've only recently started cycling and, even though it's something I take not-so-seriously, I love it! I was looking for a wee bit of a challenge to work towards and the 47 mile cycle from Glasgow to Edinburgh seems like the perfect first longish ride to try. It wasn't until I was filling in the online application that I realised the event is in support of the STV Appeal. Perfect! I've been looking for ideas for some kind of fundraising event to do in memory of my Dad - who died very suddenly twenty years ago this year - and, as my Dad loved life, loved kids and wanted everyone to have a fair shot at it, the STV Appeal seems like the ideal choice! You can read more about the STV Appeal by clicking on the link on this page, but its basic premise is to provide help and support to children and young people in Scotland who are affected by poverty. And, 100% of the money donated is spent directly helping the kids as all overheads are met by STV and The Hunter Foundation.

So, this not-so-serious cyclist will be peddling her wee heart out with her not-so-serious support crew (Alex!) by her side in memory of her very special Dad in support of children all over Scotland who are struggling to cope with the mulititude of issues that come hand in hand with living in poverty. I'd be so very grateful for any wee donation you'd be willing to make in support of this excellent and much-needed charity.
