JIMAS recently bought St. Michael’s Church to establish it as a JIMAS Centre. The JIMAS Centre would have the Church renovated to serve as a Community Centre for everybody while an adjacent property would be built for Muslim prayers and education. This has now burnt down. The property was bought after 25 years of sacrifice. This was the result of learning to be self-reliant in order to serve the people in the way of the Prophet (Sunnah).
It was bought with money that came from the hearts of people - no bank loans, no usury, no lottery funds, no local or national government grants of any type, no foreign creditors, no PREVENT or Police or Intelligence finances, no business donation, not even a single 'rich' person made any private donation - money that Allah gave to people who donated and loaned from their hearts. Alhumdulillah.
If it was arson as local media, Fire Service, Police and Clergy have opined, we forgive any suspects involved. No recrimination, no punishment for you except the regret you may have one day, and no apologies required - we extend the hand of understanding and warm friendship so that they may see the errors of their ways and the great harm they have caused. Let the past be put behind and let us together move on as better people – any suspect is certainly forgiven by us.
The fire has caused tremendous damage to the property but our Vision remains intact. This vision to establish a Centre of Excellence for charities and people in need urgently requires £500,000 for reconstruction and development.
