UPDATE: The Adventure Comes To An End
After 7 gruelling weeks of heavy negotiations, interesting local customs, some even more interesting meals and loads of great ambulance times we reached the end of our mammoth journey. Unfortunately the ambulance did not quite have to stamina to make it all the way to Mongolia but she carried us to far Eastern Kazakhstan which is further than I think anyone was expecting. Even so, we completed what was left of the journey and can say that the money donated by everyone will make an incredible difference to the orphanage in Ulaan Baatar, so thank you all so so very much for making this experience possible.
!!UPDATE!! - CHLOE DESTROYS LEEDS HALF MARATHON IN A TIME OF 2:01.
As I am sure that you have heard from us that the four of us are partaking in the Mongol Rally this summer. This is an epic road trip from England to Mongolia battling all sorts of terrain in car that is completely unsuited for the task. This trip should take us about 6 weeks to complete and we recently bought a 1981 Bedford ambulance to do it in!
We aim to raise at least £3000 for the Christina Noble Foundation which is our chosen charity for the trip. This charity aids underprivileged and abandoned children and teenagers in Mongolia. It has various programs such as - emergency and long-term medical care, nutritional rehabilitation, educational and vocational training and job placement. In essence this is the whole reason why we are doing the rally. On reaching the capital of Mongolia (Ulaanbaatar) we donate the ambulance to the very limited Mongolian health service.
In order to raise this much money JJ, Laura and Harry have run the Paris Marathon and in doing so have raised just over £2300 towards our target. And now, Chloe has also run the Leeds half marathon with an impressive time of 2hrs and 1 minute. And in doing so has boosted our fundraising total up to A MASSIVE £3000!!!
With our target reached we would like to take a minute just to thank each and everyone of you who have donated to our cause. But don't worry, there's no limit to what we can raise so please don't stop donating just because we've reached our own personal target...every penny counts.
