Story

Join us in a fantastic opportunity to plant a new forest in Israel!

JNF Future is planting 2,500 trees in the new Lord Sacks Forest in Jerusalem to celebrate the peerage awarded to the Chief Rabbi.  Each tree costs £10 and every person who plants a tree before the dedication ceremony on 16th June 2010 will have their name included in a hand-written scroll that will be presented to Lord Sacks.  In the message box, please put the name/names of the person/people you would like to be inscribed in this scroll.

If you choose to plant a tree (or a number of trees!) to celebrate or commemorate an occassion, please contact Natasha in London on 020 8732 6108 or natasha@jnf.co.uk or Joanne in Manchester on 0161 795 7565 or joanne@jnfman.co.uk and we will send you a certificate.

Here are a few reasons why you should plant a tree…

1)    A single tree produces up to 260 pounds of oxygen a year. That is more than enough to supply oxygen to a family of four people. Plant a few thousand trees and we have an oxygen supply for a whole town!

2)    A tree can absorb as much carbon in a year as a car produces, driven over 8,500 miles.

3)    Trees planted in and around property can raise that piece of land’s value by up to 20%.

4)    Trees help to cool down the atmosphere. They can bring down one’s air conditioning costs by up to 20%.

5)    By planting 20 million trees, the earth and its people will be provided with 260 million more tons of oxygen. Those same 20 million trees will remove 10 million tons of Co2.

6)    Trees provide shelter and food for wildlife such as birds, squirrels, bugs etc. Groves of trees provide food and cover for larger mammals, such as raccoons and deer.

7)    Trees in the landscape relax us, lower heart rates, and reduce stress.

Israel is the only country that entered the 21st century with a net gain in its number of trees. Please help us to continue this good work!

Thank you,

JNF Future
