Story
===========================================================================================
Myself and Tony have now conquered the monster mountain, it was one of the hardest things I have done to date, but it was worth it.
I would like to thank all of you who have sponsored us and wished us well.
It was a moving experienced.

==========================================================================================
My Father, Mike Barry has had Alzheimer's for a number of years now, and he has steadily deteriorated, he lives in a home in Surrey and needs constant care. When I visit him and see what this terrible disease has done to him I can only imagine of what could have been and if only there was a cure. Those of you who knew Mike knew he was a larger than life character, he could be very flamboyant, and was a man who both worked and partied hard, foremost, he was an entrepreneur/inventor and businessman. To see him now only highlights the reason why we have to help to find a cure. Sadly it is too late for Mike but we could make a difference to others and there is no doubt that most of you know someone with this disease.
I thought it would be a good idea to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa on an official event for the Alzheimer's Society in June 2010. My good friend TONY JOHN (X Army, 2 Para) who knew my Father also decided to take up the challenge. The mountain is the highest free standing mountain in the World at just under 20000ft, it will be a 7 day trek of sleeping in tents, no washing and eating the local cuisine. There will be 30 people doing this trek with an entourage of sherpas, cooks and medics.
I would like to be able to give the Alzheimer's Society a big cheque so PLEASE donate to this well deserving charity.
The pictures at the top of this page is of myself, Tony and Marietta Richarson (Fund raising officer) at Alhzeimer's HQ London following a visit earlier on this year and the other picture is of Mike and me before the onset of Alzheimer's.
If you would like to see more information on the trek follow this link http://www.alzheimers.org.uk/site/scripts/documents_info.php?documentID=904
After the event I will post a video diary on my Company website www.scanprobe.com
Thank you
