In addition to providing care for a patient, Marie Curie Nurses are also there to support carers at what can be an emotional and stressful time. £160 pays for a shift for a Marie Curie Nurse in a patients home

From June 23rd to July 4Th, I will be attempting to climb Elbrus, Europe's highest mountain at 5642m in the Causican mountains, Southern Russia near the Georgia border. Although the mountain is not technically difficult, the walk up to the summit from the barrel huts is long and very strenuous, some 8hrs up and 6hrs down.. Elbrus should  not be under estimated, it is one of the deadliest mountains in the world. Along with altitude the biggest danger is the weather, it can can get particuarily nasty on this mountain and in the climbing season of 2004 it had claimed 48 lives.

This trip is self funded and self guided, so all money raised will go directly to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
