Story

Hi guys, thanks for taking the time to look at my JustGiving page.

This summer I will be trekking to Everest base camp, in order to raise money for VSO. Over 11 days I will be walking 5-6 hours a day in order to reach base camp, which stands at over 5,200m.

I'm sure you've heard the old proverb "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach him to fish, and he'll eat for a lifetime." VSO basically expands on the concepts of this, and instead of throwing in food and money to impoverished societies, it sends out skilled and proffesional volunteers to teach the people how to expand their knowledge and improve their lifestyle. This is a unique, sustainable and long term solution to poverty. The main things that VSO work towards are education, health, disability and HIV and aids, and they work across 40 countries. For more info, visit their webiste at www.vso.org.uk

This whole adventure will be a massive challenge, both the fundraising and the trek, but I know that it will be well worth the time and effort. With your help, we can improve the lives of many others who are less fortunate than us.
