On 20th April 2012 my wonderful sister Jayne was unexpectedly and rapidly taken ill, where she suffered immediate and very real danger to her life. She was in the final stages of severe scepticimia, toxic shock and had multiple organ failure - all had been brought on immediately with an unknown infection. She was rushed to hospital and from the moment the ambulance arrived, they worked hard and never gave up.

She was declining rapidly and there was no evidence what was attacking her - the team fought for hours and never stopped. She was placed on full life support whilst teams of specialists from all sections worked hard day and night to discover what was wrong with her.

The answers were not forthcoming and they could have easily called it a day but they would not. They dedicated themselves to making her well and never once waivered in their quest. Jayne spent 9 nights on the ICU ward and 4 nights on the HDU ward, where all the staff were nothing short of outstanding.

Their dedication, calmness, positive outlook, compassion, care and attitude made my family feel sane in a nightmare and led to my sister's recovery.We have since learned that no one comes back from how far gone she was and coupled with the fact they not only had to save her, but fight a mystery infection, makes us realise a miracle happened- the angels being the staff and doctors.

We can never thank them enough for the gift of life but I can raise money which will go towards all the wonderful hospitals in the area and the training of the staff.

This will mean other families can benefit like we so luckily did.
