Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am a 69 year old, Royal Navy veteran who is passionate about cycling. It has been my long time ambition to cycle from London to Paris and ride down the Champs - Elysees a la the Tour of France participants.
Well, I am delighted to report that, at long last, I have fulfilled that ambition. Starting on 14 September, along with 66 other participants, I cycled the 508 kilometres from London to Paris and duly rode down the Champs - Elysees arriving at the Eiffel Tower on the afternoon of 17 September. The ride from London proved to be pretty tough (especially for an old stager like me.) However, the knowledge that I was raising money for such a deserving cause spurred me on.
The Alzheimer's Society is the leading support and research charity for people with dementia. Having seen, at first hand, the devastating effect of dementia on the sufferer, family and friends, I am very glad to have undertaken this cycling challenge and, as can be seen above, due to the generosity of my supportersto date, have exceeded the amount I pledged to raise for Alzheimer's.
However, I'm pleased to say that my fund raising efforts did not end with the completion of the bike ride. There is still time for you to donate to the cause.
Having read that I fulfilled the challenge, perhaps you would like to mark my achievement, by making a donation now.
All donations irrespective of amount will be gratefully received by the Alzheimer's Society.
Once again, thanks for visiting my page. I hope:you have enjoyed it.
If you and /or your friends have not already done so, I trust the above will encourage you and them to make a donation now.
