RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

Hi my name’s Jack

I am now eleven years old and to celebrate, I am walking Hadrian’s Wall during school Easter holidays for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. East coast to west coast.

Its 84 miles  up and down to cover the route. Ihope to mange it in 5 days. (it should really be 7) I will be  carrying my kit and sleep in barns and youth hostel on the way.  Last summer, I did this climb of Mt Kilimanjaro to help raise money for the Air Ambulance, which was nearly 53 miles. Hadrian's Wall is about 30 miles further so it could be tricky, so you just have to believe in yourself to keep going. Wave to me on the hike! I will be wearing a RNLI running vest over my pink iscout hoody.

I am back at school now  I finished the walk in five days it is a really long long wall. I have  a few achey muscles but I am pleased with myself for carrying on. It was fun trying to fly in the wind ,it was really strong. I did get tired sometimes because I walked 8 to 10 hours every day with lots and lots of styles to climb over!  There were masses of frogs on the pathways and you could squash them if you didn't look out.  When I got to the end I met some boys from Yorkshire  who are in the Scouts like me, they were so pleased I had walked all the way they got their Dad to give me £10 for my collection, that really  made me pleased !! They are going to do something now.

I am very happy that you are all being so supportive and are helping me reach my target. Just think what the RNLI can do with £500? Lots of things and hopefully they will never have to spend any of it on you. If you want to you can put £2 online, I put my £3 Top Gear card money on to start off and I'll do a carboot fair to get some more money.

Be safe by the sea

Thank you love Jack x
