Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page! My name is Jack Swannick. I'm from the Lake District and I am running 10 laps of Windermere Lake in 2016 to raise money for Brathay Trust. Each lap is 26.2 miles and I am running them over 10 consecutive days.
Brathay Trust helps change the life of 1000's of young people each year. Operating in inner city and rural locations across the UK, they work with some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young adults to positively change their life prospects. They do this through encouraging them to engage positively in their communities, developing leadership, aspiration and skills to increase their potential.
I grew up in the Lake District, where Brathay Trust are based and where the 10in10 takes place. I consider myself very lucky to have done so and I would love for other young people to have the opportunities I had in this amazing landscape.
Young people today face many challenges - unemployment, peer pressure, bullying, urban deprivation and crime. Brathay Trust help to counter this through community support in deprived inner city areas and life changing residential experiences in the Lake District, ensuring that 1000's of young people have the best possible prospects when transitioning to adulthood.
I hope you are inspired by this amazing charity and epic challenge - if so, please sponsor me - your support will be a great motivator in the coming months of gruelling training and during this very tough event.
