The British Red Cross, a charity incorporated by Royal Charter 1908, helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives.

Story

For those of you who think I am unadventurous, you would be correct. However,I do have a desire to look cool, so, despite my mental fear of heights, on 22nd April I'm abseiling down the Blade (the tallest building in Reading!) with some of my coursemates to raise money for the Red Cross. Please visit my fundraising page and sponsor me so that we can reach our minimum target of £3,000, and hopefully a helluva lot more!

So what am I rasing money for?

The Red Cross Robbie the Robot Appeal has been up and running since the end of last year and is working to raise £1 million over three years to keep the Da Vinci robot in Reading. The trust paid a deposit on the high-tech surgical robot in October 2008 and hopes to pay the remainder by 2012 to ensure its future.

Patients benefit from a less intrusive operation offering a quicker recovery time and surgeons have been operating on prostate cancer patients and some gynaecological procedures already and plan to roll out the procedure in other areas of the hospital.

Thank you for taking tiem to visit my page and donate

All the best
