The Three Peaks Challenge · 24 September 2010

Sense is here to support disabled people from the first weeks of life through all the major milestones of adulthood. Over 70 years, we’ve built extensive knowledge and expertise in supporting disabled people with complex needs, including deafblind people.

Story

Usher syndrome is an inherited condition which results in hearing loss and a progressive loss of vision from Retinitis pigmentosa .

My  Three Peaks Challenge takes me on the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales all within 24hours. The trek covers 40kms and involves 2,984m of ascent and descent.

My 24hour challenge begins in Scotland; Glen Nevis Valley. From here i will climb Ben Nevis, the largest mountain in the UK, standing at 1,344m. i will  trek into night by head torches. On descending Ben Nevis i will be driven through the night to the Lake District.

Once i arrive in the Lakes i will begin to climb the second of my Three Peaks - Scafell Pike; the highest mountain in England standing at 978m.

My final challenge takes on the highest mountain in Wales ; Snowdon, standing at 1,085m. Snowdon, or Yr Wyddfa in Welsh, this will be the end of my Three Peaks Challenge .
