At a recent Federation meeting I rashly stated that I could, and would, complete the New York Marathon in 2010.  Since that date, and especially during the recent icy weather, I have regretted it on many an occasion - however, a promise is a promise and I have already had confirmation of my entry to the event.

Why the Police Treatment Centres?  Well, putting aside the fact that I may need them after the event, I speak to both serving and retired officers on a daily basis who have benefitted from the facilities and treatment.  When they could have waited for several months to receive treatment on the NHS they have had access to intensive, professional care and treatment almost immediately - and in some cases this has included their immediate family who have needed support and convalescence.  Not only does this give benefits to the individual - but to their colleagues and force who otherwise may be having to manage without them in the workplace.

The facilities at Castlebrae are now in need of refurbishment and this is the ideal opportunity for us all to tell the trustees and staff that we do appreciate the work they do and the facility that they provide.  In particular the sports hall needs upgrading and I hope that your donations will make a severe dent in that bill.

You can access more information about the charity at www.thepolicetreatmentcentres.org
