It came as a terrible shock last summer when my beloved sister Sue was diagnosed with breast cancer aged just 39. Within 2 weeks of the diagnosis, Sue underwent a mastectomy operation and commenced a gruelling course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. One year on, Sue is still receiving treatment as she continues to fight this terrible disease. I am so very proud of the way she has coped with the treatments and their horrible side effects and remained so strong throughout.
That is why on 20th September I will be running the Bupa Great North Run for Sue and hoping to raise £1,000 to help fund the complementary therapy unit at The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. The unit provides complementary therapies to patients undergoing treatment for cancer to help alleviate stress and discomfort and manage and reduce the side effects of cancer treatment. I know that Sue has benefited enormously from the service.
The unit does not receive any core funding from the NHS and relies wholly on donations and fundraising events.
I will be so very grateful for any donations to help me reach my target
