Shaftesbury is the charity that's committed to enabling people with disabilities to live the life they want to lead. We work helping people to tackle the barriers they face and create a livable life. We believe that the people we support have the right to a full and flourishing life.

Story

Jacob Whitehouse is a student at The Victoria Education Centre in Poole, Dorset. He has Adrenoleukodystrophy, a life threatening brain disease which affects his speech and mobility. He is a fun loving young man and a popular student. For the last few years Jake has been keeping on to his Mum, April, about taking part in a parachute jump and now, to mark his 16th birthday and with the consent of his Consultant and Mum, Jake’s wish is about to come true. Jake will be making a tandem parachute jump on Saturday 26th March from GoSkydive in Salisbury to raise money for Victoria. The money will go towards providing a covered walkway between our main school and post 16 unit providing protection from the elements for staff and students. Jake is very excited about the jump and hopes to see some friends on the day to support him.
