We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer
Story
After suffering with depression for many years, I discovered that the best way for me to fight my illness was through exercise. I joined the local gym a year ago and since then taken up many classes, including Aerobics and Boxercise. I still felt at the time that I could achieve so much more so when I was offered the opportunity to climb Snowdon. I jumped at the chance. On Saturday 11th August 2012, I climbed Snowdon. To me, it was one of the best days of my life. It was a personal achievement to me and this has inspired me to undertake the National Three Peaks Challenge in August 2013. I will begin training for this event at the end of this month and I hope to get in many hours at the local parks and walks, especially the Mow Cop Killer mile which is local to me. My battle with Depression inspired me to complete a Graduate Diploma Course in Person Centred Counselling and I am now fully qualified. It shows that in my case, Depression does not have to affect your dreams and goals in life. I have chosen Cancer Research as my given charity as many of my relatives have experienced the pain and heartache of losing a loved one, or someone close. I am also creating a bog, the link is below.
We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.
