Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have temporarily gone insane and agreed to cycle a 180 mile loop of the capital. This will require me to cycle around some of London's toughest routes including Box Hill. The training alone is hard and has been a real challenge, but unfortunately there is no backing out now! As I am enduring the pain of sitting in the saddle for two days, whilst my legs frantically pedal to get me around London …I was hoping to raise some money for a good cause to make it all worthwhile. I have chosen a charity very close to my heart, for Jack Rooke.
Jack, is 4 and has Cerebral Palsy. His type is called, called spastic diplegia and has caused the muscles in his legs to be very tight. This means he struggles with basic skills affecting his mobility including the ability to sit, crawl and get himself around. He cannot stand or walk unaided. He currently has a frame called a kaye walker that he uses to walk with indoors, he loves the independence but unfortunately he can only use the frame for short-periods as he gets tired easily. All Jack longs for is to be able to join in with his friends and run around playing with them. For his family to see Jack take his first steps he needs some help.
This is why I am asking for you to sponsor me, and help Jack and his family so Jack can have a life changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). This operation will take away the tightness in his muscles his legs and allow him to walk by himself! One of his favourite things is football, and to play one day with his friends at the moment is only a dream.
Jack is such a happy little boy and tries so hard and is very determined to do things for himself. We would love for jack to have this chance in life to have surgery and give him the best chance he can have of taking his first steps.
This operation costs a lot of money so the money will allow him to have this life changing procedure, it will also support the intensive physiotherapy that he will need after.
Each time I got to see Jack, he asks where my bike is and I know he would long to do such a ride when he grows up. So if you have a few spare pennies, please sponsor me even if it is just so you can laugh at the horrific picture of me in my cycle gear.
Thank you for visiting my page,
