Story

If you have taken part in any of the events organised by Noelwyn and the Healthy Life Activities team over the last 15 years it is likely that you will have met Eluned.  As a youngster she took part in the Llanelli Junior Duathlon but soon decided her talents were better served by volunteering. She would often choose to hand out medals, T-shirts and bottles of water to the athletes at the Finish line and would always do this with a warm Welsh smile and a congratulatory “Da Iawn/Well done.”

Her parents Gareth & Helen and her brother Gethin are also a key part of our events team. They are at our Triathlons helping out hours before the event and long after everyone has gone home.

In June 2014 their lives were turned upside down as Eluned suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli. She spent six months in the Intensive Care Unit and then Ward 9 at Prince Phillip Hospital and has since spent time in the Neurological ward at Neath Port Talbot Hospital and at Rookwood Hospital in Cardiff.

In October 2015 Eluned returned to Ty Cwm in Carmarthen. Ty Cwm is part of the Leonard Cheshire Disability UK Charity and is a Care Home that provides necessary care for adults with physical disabilities. Sharon and Jade have decided to run the London Marathon in April 2017 to raise money for Ty Cwm who provide such amazing care for Eluned and compassion and support to Gareth, Helen, Gethin and the rest of our family. They are looking to raise money for a sensory room at Ty Cwm – a facility that will provide a stimulating environment for those who live at the home.
