Wow! we are very happy to say that we successfully reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the worlds highest free standing mountain.

This has been the best, hardest, and most amazing experience ever, it really has been life changing and for us to have experienced it together as a mother and daughter makes it all the more special xx

 

We were part of a team from South Yorkshire trekking up the mountain in Tanzania in October 2012. So far collectively we have raised £60,000,00 for SAFE@LAST. 

 

The trek will take place from the 3rd to 14th October 2012.  To make sure the team reaches the top they are working with Charity Challenge, the same organisation that organised the celebrity trip for Comic Relief.  

It will be tough with long hard days walking and extreme temperature so some serious training before hand is needed in preparation for the trip.

 

I am hoping to raise over £2,000 for SAFE@LAST above the cost of the trip to support SAFE@LAST services for young runaways which includes a helpline, ongoing one to one support, education and prevention, street work and the only children’s refuge in England.

 

I’ve been fortunate to be able to take part in a number of challenges in support of SAFE@LAST but this is  the most challenging and will definitely be the most difficult. I am looking forward to working with the other members of the team who are a mixed group of people, but all great. I think together we can  encourage ourselves to achieve levels of determination and fulfilment which we would never normally experience. I am looking forward to seeing all the animals and the beautiful scenery but ultimately knowing that I am making a financial contribution to a brilliant children’s charity!
