24 Hour Team Triathlon WCT · 8 February 2013 to 9 February 2013 ·

Wessex Cancer Support provides free and local emotional support to anyone affected by cancer in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight. Clients may have cancer themselves, be adjusting to life after cancer, supporting someone with cancer or be bereaved. We rely on donations to provide this support.

Story

On the 8th & 9th of February, I'll be taking part in a 24 hour indoor triathlon - 24 hours of hell and pain!

Team of 12, three disciplines (running, rowing & cycling), 24 hours. Do the maths, and that's 6 hours of pain per person! However, lack of sleep, limited recovery period and the rather 'ambitious' targets set will be the killer.

My schedule is in 90 minute blocks, comprising a 30 minute run, 30 minute cycle and 30 minute row, with 4.5 hours in between blocks to warm down, eat or sleep, and warm up.

Targets are as follows:

Running total - 24km, 12kph pace

Cycling total - 64km, 32kph pace

Rowing total - 28km, 2:10min/500m

For an added element, there are 2 other teams of 12 competing, so hitting these targets doesn't neccessarily mean victory! Hence training is going hard to try and beat these goals.

Please dig deep and donate! Cancer is a disease that has had a large impact on my family and I in the last 10 years, and I have seen first hand the value of the work of charities such as the Wessex Cancer Trust. 50p or £50, it all helps!!

Thank you so much for your support.
