On the 9th/10th March, I will be taking part in a 24 hour football event (see https://www.justgiving.com/teams/charityfootballmk) to raise money for a Winter Night Shelter to help combat the rising homelessness in this country.

Over 200 players from Milton Keynes and surrounding areas will be taking part in a 24-hour continuous football match to raise money for the Winter Night Shelter MK.

The WNSMK began as a response to urgent need when, during the severe winter of 2010, Milton Keynes Council became aware of a number of homeless people sleeping in bin stores and such places in central Milton Keynes, despite freezing temperatures and thick snow on the ground.

• temporary emergency accommodation (November–March)
• a dedicated welfare team providing year-round support
• access to showers and washing/drying facilities
• links to support agencies
• advice and support to find permanent accommodation
• pathways to employment.
