Marathon successfully completed in 3hr 56min!

Happy to have come in under 4hr - the hills were a challenge, particularly at 22 miles when I was running on empty (unfortunately this is where the Event's Photographer chose to snap me - I won't be purchasing this gruesome photo).

It was a great event, really well supported by the local people who kept me going with vocal encouragement and Jelly Babies, and by my own support team (see photos).

I can't thank you enough for donating, we're really touched by the response.  The money really will support a fantastic cause.

Hope to see you soon (when I will be at least a stone heavier...)

Best wishes,

James

Many thanks to all that have donated so generously.

The pesky volcano has forced a change of plan....

I will now be running the Halstead & Essex Marathon on 9 May.  Don't worry, this promises to be even more challenging with an undulating country road route.  I will keep you updated with the result.  In the meantime you can still donate on this page!

Best regards,

James (currently stranded in the US)

The Dame Vera Lynn Trust has done so much for our son Edward.

Edward has an undiagnosed condition that has caused global developmental delay and epilepsy.  He has been visiting The Dame Vera Lynn School for Parents weekly since March 2009.  We have seen a real improvement in Edward's development during this time,  and Alice and I are extremely grateful to the wonderful staff for the work they do.  Edward is moving forward developmentally.  He is getting stronger, is now sitting and is becoming more mobile.

The Dame Vera Lynn School for Parents is 100% funded by charity.  They work with children between 1 and 5 years old with special educational needs arising from cerebal palsy and physical and associated disabilities.  The multi-disciplinary sessions they have organiised for Edward and his group are fully matched to their needs, and the impact has been very positive. Edward really enjoys his Thursday's there.

So I'm running 26 miles and 385 yards (its the last 385 yards that worries me).  I hope its flat.

Please sponsor me and donate to this great cause...
