2010 Bupa Great Manchester Run · 16 May 2010 ·

We're here to enrich the lives of people with MS & other long term health conditions, providing a range of services in a caring, supportive & positive environment. A registered charity working to renovate our new Centre to bring much more to the table for our members, their families and friends.

Story

As most of you are aware Helen, my wife, was diagnosed with Relapsing & Remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 2007. Injectable drugs form part of the management of this neurological disease but since December 2009 Helen has also been receiving Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy at Trafford MS Therapy Centre http://www.tmstc.org/home.ikml With frequent use patients report improved symptom control and, whilst not a cure, the therapy has become known as "The handbrake" for MS.

The centre is a Charity and offers diagnosed MS patients 15 free sessions followed by limitless subsidised sessions. Some patients have attended for many years and some, like Helen, are only just discovering its many benefits. In addition to oxygen therapy the centre also provides: neurophysiotherapy, magnetic bed therapy, counselling and a wide range of complementary healing therapies. Of course the Centre also provides much more than this. Helen and I have been made to feel welcome from day one and it is clear that the support networks for patients, families and carers are as important as the therapies themselves.

This is clearly a place where staff and volunteers care in abundance but it costs £95,000 per annum to provide the current level of service and this is wholly achieved through fundraising and donation.

To help, I have decided to enter the 2010 Bupa Manchester 10K Run and I would very much appreciate your sponsorship. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the centre and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep, donate now and help Helen and I show our appreciation for the much needed Trafford MS Therapy Centre because she, along with all the other patients, intends using it for a very long time!

Thank you for visiting my page,

James Cunningham
