Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This Sunday, September 16, I hope to be fulfilling a longheld aspiration - to complete an ironman triathlon. The ambition was Hawaii, the reality is Tenby.

This of course is a very selfish endeavour, so to balance the "ying and yang", I have decided to try and raise some funds for the British Red Cross.

The Red Cross is a volunteer-led humanitarian organisation that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are, both at home and overseas.

Tenby Ironman triathlon

Last year's winner "by far the toughest Ironman I have done". A quote I read after entering.

"The swim course for Ironman Wales takes place on the beautiful North Beach in Tenby and consists of a two loop course totalling 3.8km (2.4miles) in distance"; and

"The bike course for Ironman Wales is a two loop course totalling 180 km (112 miles) of spectacular coastal views through idyllic towns giving rides over 2,000 metres of altitude difference throughout the course!" and finally

"The Ironman Wales marathon (26.2 miles) course takes place in and around the picturesque town of Tenby. The course is a four loop run, each loop consisting of just over 10 kilometres of running, before swinging left onto Tenby’s Esplanade to reach the finish line making up the marathon distance."

The total is the equivalent of Manchester to Cardiff

My training 2012

· Swimming 174km (69 hours)

· Cycling 4,887km (172 hours)

· Running 1,525km (134 hours)

· Total 6,586 km (375 hours), that's Manchester to Atlanta, Georgia

My goal

To complete faster than the first ever ironman, Gordon Haller who completed Hawaii in 11 hours 46 minutes and 58 seconds. The main advantage being that it will still be daylight!
