We help people with ME/CFS to understand and survive their illness

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My Daughter; Beth has been recently diagnosed with ME/CFS. It has taken nearly 2 years for this diagnosis and during this time she has had to put her life on hold, including having to stop 6th form college because of the symptoms caused by ME/CFS.

I have become a keen cyclist over the last 3 years and have now decided to put my hobby to some good use by raising funds for the ME Association.

The Tour de Tendring is an open event organised through 'Bike Events' and offers a 6 mile, 20 mile and 60 mile course, I will be attempting the 60 mile option.

ME is often met with skepticism and doubt, I can include myself as a guilty party at one time, however having seen what it does to an individual, especially one so young, I can confirm it is real and it is physical. I hope the funds I raise can go towards GPs and Physicians making a quicker diagnosis and enable effective support for future sufferers.

The ME Association campaigns hard to get ME recognised as a severe neurological illness. Our helpline provides essential information and support to adults and children who have ME/CFS, and to their families and carers. We also fund biomedical research into the physical nature and causes of ME/CFS.
