We want a world where boating is accessible to everyone regardless of circumstance
Story
We all love sailing, and in my case take it for granted that I’m able to go out with only my lack of sailing skills to impede such a wonderful sport. So imagine if you were one of the current 20,000 + disabled sailors in the UK?
Sailability is made up from some 12,000 volunteers at over 150 recognized RYA Sailability sites. Through the charities work, sailors with disabilities experience the same exhilaration, enjoyment and confidence felt by able-bodied sailors - along with all the great social activities and competition opportunities. Which is why we’d like you to support Sailability through sponsoring us race at the Southport 24 hour Enterprise Open on the 11th September.
LCSC won this event in 1986, we can’t guarantee any silver wear this year, but really hope to be able to raise some money for such a worthy Charity.
The Foundation aims to promote boating attainable for all. People disadvantaged by youth age disability financial hardship or social circumstances are under-represented in the boating world.
We give grants to fund the facilities needed to open doors to new participants and develop social capital
