Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
From 6th February 2011 I will be living and working in Ethiopia helping VSO with development work there by training teacher educators. VSO employs skilled volunteers in developing countries to tackle disadvantage and poverty by sustainable development in education, healthcare, disability, HIV awareness, secure livelihoods and participation and governance.
I will be working in a small town called Finote Selam, which is about 370km from the capital Addis Ababa. I will be working as a Higher Diploma Leader, training teacher educators in a local university. I am really looking forward to starting this role... I feel very excited and privileged!
I will be paid a local wage, but it costs the charity £25000 to train and support a volunteer for two years, so any sponsorship or donations will be greatly appreciated. Although VSO do not require that a volunteer raise any money, I know that in the current economic climate it is becoming increasingly difficult for VSO to keep all its development programmes in action. I hope you'll agree that the work they do is worth supporting.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Voluntary Service Overseas will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
