Reading Half Marathon 2012 · 1 April 2012 ·

We support The Rifles & its antecedent regiments, including via The Rifles Benevolent Trust, charity No: 1119071, which incorporates Care for Casualties & the Always a Rifleman Programme. Together the Trusts support all serving Riflemen & veterans, with the AARP meeting mental health needs.

Story

*****UPDATE*****

Have just got back from completing the Reading half marathon. It was absoloutely boiling hot but I finished, Not in the 1 hour 40 minutes area more like 2 hours, results TBC later. Considering I smashed my foot with a concrete block last week and also ran with a dodgy knee i'm pretty happy. Thanks to all who donated and to the doubting Thomas' out there who said they'd donate if and when I complete the race, well time to donate! :-)

On April 1st I will be taking part in my first half marathon in Reading. I want to run this and raise money for the charity Care For Casualties.

The Rifles are my local infantry regiment and have suffered many casualties through their time serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Regardless of your views on these wars, young men have been hurt serving their country and they and their families need to be supported. Please visit the website and see the varying types of support and how it is helping these young men adapt and move on with their lives.

Please give as much as you can, in the knowledge your donations will help show our wounded soldiers they and their sacrifices are not forgotten and enable them to adapt and make the most of life, after they have served their country. Thank you.

***IMPORTANT NOTICE: DUE TO ME NOT GETTING A TICKET IN TIME, I HAVE BOUGHT A TICKET FROM A FRIEND WHO HAS HAD TO WITHDRAW THROUGH INJURY. THEREFORE MY NAME WILL NOT APPEAR ON THE RESULT LIST ETC. THE NAME I WILL BE RUNNING UNDER IS THE NAME MY FRIEND REGISTERED IN; MR J. BUSHNELL***
