Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

I can't quite believe it but on 12th April I signed up to do the 100km London2Brighton Challenge on the 23rd May. While some eejits run it, I am hoping to be able to walk the 100km in a day (and it's night). In old money, that's 62 miles!

I am part of a team raising money for PUNK. A mutual friend, Brian, has had Parkinson's for a number of years and has asked us to join him in raising money specifically to fund the training of specialised nurses to provide support and care for people living with Parkinson's. parkinson's nurses are critical to improving the lives of everyone affected by this disease. PUNK is raising funds to provide specialist nursing in areas of the UK where none is currently available.

The London2Brighton Challenge is one of the UK's great endurance events. Most of the 3,000 participants will walk is, some will jog parts, and nearly 500 will run it as a full-on ultra-marathon. It's quite a test of stamina and determination, or in my case, mind over quite a lot of matter. We start in Richmond and cross both the North and South Downs to get the Brighton coast. 60% of the course is off road through fields, woodland and possibly mud: it IS a Bank Holiday weekend so what are the chances of it being dry and warm?

I know that you are asked to support many competing causes, some closer to your heart than this one so anything that you can do to help will be much appreciated!
