Sport Relief brings the nation together to get active and raise life changing amounts of money through the power of sport. Sport Relief is an initiative of Comic Relief registered charity 326568 (England/Wales); SC039730 (Scotland)

Story

My good friend Greg Sim put my name down to peddle a bicycle from London to Wales without my knowledge! At 16st 5lb (229 lb), I considered this next to impossible yet thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to raise some much needed funds for what is a great cause.

The Dallaglio Foundation has pledged to help a few charities from the Dallaglio Cycle Slam including Debra which is the only charity to provide services and support to children and their families who suffer from EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa), at the same time as co-ordinating and providing funds worldwide to find treatments and ultimately a cure. Recent positive breakthroughs have been made and we can all help to accelerate these efforts. Please take a brief look at the attached photos and video to gain some appreciation of the pain and misery that these children live with every day.

Without boring you with the reasons why, my training only started in late January. I have been out 4-5 days each week and have struggled my way up from 6 to doing 40 miles in a day (it hurts...on the upside, my trousers fit me again). With only two weeks training left, I still wonder how I'll hit the 75 miles I need to do on my second day but I assure you I will be trying my hardest.

We are all approached with many charity requests, and yes, this another. PLEASE do take a one minute look at the children in the attached photos and video and do your best. Whatever amount you may give will be very much appeciated.

Regards,

James.
