Story
Thanks for coming to my page.
Last year I walked 50 miles in 24 hours for the Sheffield Scanner campaign. I was sponsored over £600 for doing this - loads more than I was expecting and I'm hugely grateful to everyone that donated.
In total, last year's walk raised £138,000 for the campaign. The overall total is now £1.2m towards the £2m target.
So, when the Big Walk 2018 was launched I decided I would again do my bit to raise money towards this great cause.
The campaign will bring the future of medical imaging to Sheffield by establishing a ground-breaking MRI-PET facility. MRI-PET is the most advanced imaging technology to date. It will transform our understanding of serious conditions like cancer, dementia, heart and lung diseases, MND, Parkinson's and stroke and the way we treat them in the future. This will be the first facility of its kind in Yorkshire and a vital investment in the health of people in this region, across the UK and beyond.
An MRI scan produces comprehensive information of the organs, tissues and structures of the body. PET imaging measures how well the body is functioning. MRI-PET combines these powerful tools in a single scan to provide the most detailed pictures of the inside of the body available. With this knowledge we will be able to answer major questions about disease and identify faster and better ways to detect, treat and prevent ill health.
Please donate whatever you can afford towards this great cause!
